The rapid development of information technology makes intelligent technology deeply embedded in work and organization management, allowing employees to enjoy high efficiency and convenience at the same time, but also suffer the pressure and impact brought by it.
Information technology pressure includes work overload caused by information technology, information technology is complicated and difficult to understand, and work insecurity caused by the use of information technology
Lu Changqin’s research group used the job demands-resources model as the theoretical framework to explore the negative effects of information technology pressure on employees’ work-life balance, and through the design of two survey studies, they obtained consistent research conclusions: (1) Excessive information technology pressure will cause employees to be unable to balance work and life; (2) Employees’ work efficiency will significantly reduce the negative effect of information technology pressure on work-life balance, that is to say Employees who believe that they are capable and confident to complete their work tasks can effectively reduce the intrusion of information technology pressure on their personal lives; (3) The positive effect of work efficiency is achieved by reducing the level of emotional exhaustion of employees.
Ma Jichang, a 2017 doctoral student in Lu Changqin's research group, is the first author of this paper, and Professor Ariane Ollier-Malaterre from the University of Quebec in Canada is the co-author of the paper
