Jiangsu destroys more than 10 million yuan of fake and shoddy food in rural areas

On January 27, the Jiangsu Provincial Market Supervision Bureau held an on-site meeting on the public destruction of confiscated materials for the special law enforcement action of counterfeit and shoddy food in rural areas in Jiangning District, Nanjing City.

It is reported that since November 2020, when the special enforcement action for rural counterfeit and shoddy food was launched, Jiangsu Province has investigated and dealt with 1,592 various food safety cases, fined and confiscated 16.

A total of 107 varieties of counterfeit and shoddy food were displayed and destroyed at the on-site meeting, including 136 boxes of counterfeit health food, 18,600 bottles of shoddy liquor, 4,120 boxes of shoddy drinks, 6,304 bags of poor-quality salt, 101 bags of poor-quality rice, 625 bags of meat products, 20 tons of smuggled frozen meat, a total of more than 200 tons, and the value of the goods exceeds 10 million yuan according to the value of genuine products

Wu Yongcai, deputy director of the Jiangsu Provincial Market Supervision Bureau, said that the Jiangsu Provincial Market Supervision System should further set its goals and concentrate its efforts to ensure that the goals and tasks of the special action are fully implemented
