Japan's more than 2 megawatts of solar projects have not yet been completed even though they received feed-in tariffs (FiTs) in 2012-2014, but now have more time to complete the projects or face cuts in their FiTs
    .

On Wednesday, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) announced that such projects will delay the submission of grid-connected applications
until the end of September 2019.
The previous deadline proposed for March 31, 2019 angered investors and developers
    .

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said the delayed project must start operations
by the end of September 2020.

However, for projects smaller than 2 MW, the deadline for grid connection applications remains March 31, 2019, the same as
    in previous proposals.
    These must start running
    in March 2020.

    METI calculates that the 23.
52 GW solar project awarded the FiT contract between 2012 and 2014 is not yet completed, details shown in the table below
    .

FiT for projects that fail to meet the new deadline set by METI will be reduced to 21 yen ($0.
    18/0.
    16 yuan)
    per kWh.
