Chinese scientists have developed low-cost new energy battery materials
Associate Professor Wu Yan of the School of Materials and Chemistry of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) and Professor Zhu Bin of Hubei University have successfully developed a low-cost new energy battery material - limonite, which provides a new way
for natural minerals to be applied to advanced energy.
According to reports, as a new type of solid battery material, limonite has more advantages
in cost and performance.
The current market price is $80 per tonne, compared to about $
100 per kilogram of zirconium dioxide, a conventional solid oxide fuel.
At the same time, as a new electrolyte material, limonite has a high power output
of the solid oxide fuel cell assembled.
Solid oxide fuel cell is an efficient and environmentally friendly energy conversion technology, and its commercial application has always been the goal
pursued by researchers.
However, due to the high cost, commercial application has not yet been realized
.
The research group of Wu Yan and Zhu Bin has carried out a lot of screening and in-depth research on natural minerals, discovered and developed high-grade Laiwu limonite, and obtained performance
comparable to synthetic battery materials.
As a new energy battery material, it can be used for power supply in distributed power stations, emergency power supply
and transportation.
