Michelin announced the closure of its tire retreading plant Michelin has announced that it will close its tire retreading plant
in Clermont-Ferrand and plans to invest 90 million euros in new projects
in the region.

Michelin said that sales of retreaded tires in Europe have been declining since 2007, coupled with the increasing competition for imported tires to China, it is unlikely to reverse the decline in sales in the short term
.
In view of the current "retreading crisis", the production
of retreaded tires has to be limited in the context of overcapacity in the European tire retreading sector.
In addition, the company will reorganize its headquarters engineering operations by the end of 2018 and reduce 164 jobs
.
