PolyOne has introduced OnCapTM UV protection technology
for fibers and textiles.
OnCapTM UV protection colorants and additive solutions are available for polyamide (PA), polyester (PET), polypropylene (PP) and other material families
.
They are characterized by low load levels, high color fastness and can be incorporated into flame retardants to meet stringent safety standards
in the production process.
The various formulations included in the technology have passed ASTM G154 (American UV Aging Test Standard for Non-Metallic Materials) and AATCC (American Society of Textile Chemists and Printers) 186 for weather resistance, and FMVSS (Combustion Test for Interior Materials of Transportation Cabins) 302 flame retardant standards
.
These formulations combine colorants with additives that significantly enhance product performance to help protect nonwoven polymer fabrics, fibers and fiber filaments from fading and material deterioration caused by UV light
.
Manufacturers of geotextiles and house façade materials are in dire need of sun-tested fabrics and fabrics
that do not fall off easily.
In order to improve brand recognition and maintain brand image, manufacturers of UV protective clothing, outdoor tents and awnings also require fiber fabrics and fabrics to maintain their long-lasting color under the strong catalyst of time
.
