Solvay's Global Rare Earth Applications division has officially introduced to the market a new generation of high specific surface area (HSA) cerium dioxide solutions, an innovation for the production of advanced diesel catalysts to help customers meet the most stringent automotive emission limits
.
It offers excellent heat resistance (more than 20% better thermal stability than previous generations), unmatched catalytic performance compared to similar products, and enables catalyst manufacturers and automakers to meet stringent regulatory requirements for emissions while effectively reducing CO2 emissions
.
In addition, the product's properties contribute significantly to reducing global emissions
of other harmful gases such as unburned hydrocarbons (HC), carbon monoxide (CO) and nitrogen oxides (NOx).
The new generation of high specific surface area cerium dioxide is the core material used in the production of most LNT (lean burn nitrogen oxide trap) diesel catalysts worldwide, and Solvay's patented process is used in the development and production of Asia using Solvay's patented process
.
