    Recently, researchers at Fudan University have developed a new polymer
    that can change color and return to its original color within 1 second with temperature changes.
    Compared to previous polymers of the same type, the new polymer is suitable for a wider temperature range and can change color
    quickly even at high temperatures.
    According to a recent article in Chemical World, the polymer can be used in areas such as biosensors and smart windows to regulate light or heat exchange

    Shao Zhengzhong, chief researcher of Fudan University in Shanghai, said that the new polymer is a nanofiber that can be processed into various shapes, which can be produced by extrusion, coated with film, and molded to prepare hydrogels

    Its base polymer is peptide side chain polybutadiyne, which is produced
    by multi-step polymerization of diatylene under ultraviolet light.

    Color-changing polymers are called thermochromic polymers

    Previously developed thermochromic polymers change color slowly and only change color

    Shao Zhengzhong worked with researchers in China, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom to find better thermochromic polymers and discovered a new type of polymer
