Recently, researchers from the Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Process of the Chinese Academy of Sciences have made progress
in the research of enzyme-like nanomaterials.
They found that the gold-silver heterogeneous nanorods have excellent peroxidase catalytic properties under near-neutral pH conditions, which makes nanozymes expected to be used in biosensing, environmental science, industrial catalysis and other fields, and provides new ideas
for the development of a new generation of enzyme-like catalytic systems.
The researchers first synthesized different compositions of gold and silver heterogeneous nanorods, gold nanoparticles and silver nanoparticles, and found that the enzyme-like catalytic activity of nanomaterials is related to the nanostructure, composition, surface properties, substrate properties and pH value of the reaction, and has significant catalytic activity
in a wide pH range (4.
0~6.
5).
The gold-silver heterogeneous nanorods also have the advantages
of low cost and high stability.
Peroxidase has a wide range of applications
in pharmaceutical, biosensing, environmental protection, and chemical catalysis.
However, natural enzymes have problems such as
complex preparation process and poor stability.
As an alternative to peroxidase, enzyme-like nanomaterials have the advantages
of low price, high stability, large surface area and strong catalytic activity.
