UOP and TPC Group have jointly announced that the two companies have reached an agreement that UOP will become the exclusive licensee of TPC Group's OXO-D patented technology to cooperate to enhance the OXO-D butylene to butadiene process technology
.
The patented OXO-D technology has been commercialized and is currently the most efficient and economical method for producing butadiene, with more than 40 years of successful project experience
worldwide.
Based on the existing OXO-D technology and combining UOP's advantages in the field of process technology licensing, the two parties will work together to work together to commercialize the production of butadiene production projects
.
The core of this technology is the direct conversion of butene, a by-product of the refining process, into butadiene, a key raw material for synthetic rubber, and ultimately used in applications
such as tire manufacturing.
Peter Pei, senior vice president and general manager of Honeywell's UOP Process Technology and Equipment business, said: "Changes in the petroleum refining sector in recent years have kept up with the growth in demand for butadiene, and this gap can be filled
by developing new butadiene production technologies.
