Microvoltage intensification method degrades organic arsenic in 7 days
Hefei University of Technology has made new progress
in organic arsenic pollution control research.
By applying the method of microvoltage enhanced biodegradation, they introduced anode electron acceptors in the anaerobic biological system, shortened the degradation process from half a year to 1 year to 7 days, realized the rapid conversion of organic arsenic to pentavalent inorganic arsenic, and greatly reduced the environmental pollution
of organic arsenic in the degradation process.
Organic arsenic is widely used as an additive in pig and chicken feed
due to its role in promoting animal growth and improving disease resistance.
Most of the organic arsenic is directly excreted without the intestinal absorption of animals, and gradually degrades in an anaerobic environment, producing strong carcinogenic trivalent inorganic arsenic, resulting in arsenic pollution
in water and soil.
The results of this study provide a solution
for the removal of organic arsenic from aquaculture wastewater.
