The Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, has recently made a series of breakthroughs
in the preparation and application of polylactic acid and its modified fibers.
In order to improve the strength and high temperature dimensional stability of polylactic acid, the researchers used liquid phase constant temperature bath (LIB) technology and regulated the stereotactic composite crystals to prepare polylactic acid composite fibers containing nanoscale stereotactic composite crystal microfibers, and preliminarily elucidated the formation and structural evolution mechanism
of stereotactic composite crystal nanofibers.
Inspired by the "alloying" technology widely used in the field of modified plastics, researchers from Ningbo Institute of Materials reactive blended polylactic acid and polyvaleric acid copolyester, and then melt spinned to produce a new bio-based chemical fiber with excellent quality - grass fiber
.
Grass fiber not only has the advantages of green environmental protection in the whole process from raw materials, production to waste disposal, but also is comparable to high-grade fiber varieties such as silk and cupro ammonia in terms of style and feel
.
After 5 years of research and production cooperation, Ningbo Institute of Materials recently assisted enterprises to realize the industrialization of grass fiber, and established the theoretical basis
of its superior characteristics from the perspective of polymer aggregate structure.
