"Financial Tribune" Iraq News Agency reported on July 3 that data from the Iranian Statistics Center (SCI) showed that food prices in the third month of the Islamic calendar (May 22-June 21) rose by 29% month-on-mon.
The biggest month-on-month increase in food prices in urban areas was hydrogenated oil, which rose 242 percent to 835,000 riyals (about $56) per kilogr.
The month-on-month increase of vegetable oil and macaroni was 238% (about 21 US dollars per 900 grams) and 51% (about 53 cents per 500 grams), ranking second and thi.
Of the 53 food items reviewed by SCI, only watermelon and pomegranate prices dropped slightly during the mon.
