    Madison Gas and Electric (MGE) and WEC Energy Group (WEC), through their Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) subsidiary, have partnered to develop two large-scale photovoltaic projects
    in Wisconsin.

     

    It is understood that both companies and project developers, Invenergy and NextEra Energy, have submitted applications
    for two Wisconsin projects to the Wisconsin Public Service Commission.
    Once the project is completed, the two utilities will have a total of 300 megawatts of power generation
    .

    MGE President and CEO said, "This is another step towards a more sustainable energy future and deep decarbonization, and these projects are in line with MGE's short- and long-term carbon reduction goals
    .
    If approved, we look forward to the opportunity to develop low-cost, clean energy to reliably serve our customers in the future

    Once the two projects are completed, WPS will have 200MW of power at both locations and MGE will receive 100MW of power

    The Badger Hollow Solar Farm will be developed
    in southwest Wisconsin, Iowa.
    WPS has 100 MW of power and MGE owns 50MW of power
    generated by Badger Hollow.
    The project was developed
    by Invenergy.

    Two Creeks solar projects will be located in northeast Wisconsin, near the Point Beach nuclear power plant
    .
    WPS owns 100MW and MGE owns two Creeks
    of 50MW.
    The project is being developed
    by a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources.

    The total cost of the two projects is expected to reach approximately $390 million and is expected to be completed
    in spring 2019.
