♦BASF BASF is the low volatility yuan Alcohol production capacity increased by 13,000 tons to meet the growing market demand for low-VOC solutions
The Ulsan plant of Hyundai Motor Company (HMC) will exclusively use BASF BASF ’s Elastoflex® flexible polyurethane foam system (PU) to produce car seats.
This highly elastic polyurethane foam is a low volatile organic compound (VOC) solution and is mainly used in automotive applications such as seats and headrests.
Compared with traditional foam, BASF's Elastoflex® has better comfort, elasticity and load-bearing performance.
Andy Postlethwaite, Senior Vice President of BASF Performance Materials, Asia Pacific, said: "The main goal of automotive OEMs is to reduce VOC emissions and improve driving comfort.
BASF focuses on improving Elastoflex® solutions to meet the rapidly changing market.
Trends and needs, while maintaining the excellent mechanical properties of the material, ensuring excellent performance and flexible design.
”
In order to meet the most stringent emission control regulations, BASF optimized its polyol production process to produce Elastoflex for high-comfort seats ®Elastic polyurethane foam.
After optimizing the production process, BASF can produce special polyols with low cost and low VOC emissions.
The test results of SGS Korea, the world's leading testing organization, show that the new solution reduces acetaldehyde and formaldehyde emissions by more than 30%, which helps to improve the air quality in the car and improve the health of car drivers.
Field tests also showed that the newly developed polyurethane system has good fluidity, thus increasing the productivity of the production line and reducing the rate of product defects.
Bao Leiwei added: “In order to meet the growing demand for low-VOC solutions in various industries and applications, BASF has also expanded its polyol production capacity in Ulsan by 13,000 tons.
Other important overseas customers have provided a stable supply of products.
"
said Brian Seo of BASF Korea Transportation and Industrial Business Management Department: "We are very pleased to cooperate with our long-term partner Hyundai Motor Company to jointly explore innovative low-VOC solutions for the automotive industry.
Based on our technical expertise and material innovation, this cooperation is another example of successful cooperation between the two parties.
"
In addition, Hyundai Motor Group, which occupies more than 80% of the Korean car market, is also developing the application of this material in car roofs and steering wheels.
