According to data provided by the Indian government, India's cumulative renewable energy capacity reached 65 GW
as of the end of February 2018.
The Asian country has set a target of adding 175 GW of renewable energy by 2022, of which 100 GW will be solar photovoltaic (PV).
In adopting the Renewable Energy Purchase Obligation (RPO) scheme, the Indian government has adopted incentive renewable energy development measures in terms of expanding the transmission network, promoting large and small solar projects, supporting offshore wind power, and research and development activities

The Indian government said the cost of wind and solar power in the country currently varies
by location.
In December 2017, at a 500 MW tender held in Gujarat, the minimum wind price was 2.
43 rupees/kWh

For solar, the lowest price was Rs 2.
