    Due to a sudden surge in global wheat prices , India has announced restrictions on wheat exports to ensure the country's overall food security and support the needs of its neighbors and other vulnerable countries,according to the Press Trust of India (PTI), citing government sourc.
     
    "The Government of India is committed to meeting the food security needs of India, neighbouring countries and other vulnerable developing countries that have been adversely affected by sudden changes in the global wheat market and are unable to obtain sufficient wheat supplies," the source sa.
     
    The news also pointed out: "The sudden surge in global wheat prices caused by multiple factors has put the food security of India, neighboring countries and other vulnerable countries at ri.

    India's Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) said that in order to safeguard the food security of India and neighboring countries, the export policy related to wheat exports has been revis.
    The document stipulates that the export of wheat from India will be banned, and the ban will take effect immediate.
    However, exports for which letters of credit were issued on or before May, or those approved by the Indian government, can continue as a transitional arrangeme.
