India plans to tender 30GW of solar annually for the next two years to give developers time to reach India's 100 GW solar capacity target
by the end of March 2022.
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) set out a very optimistic path when finalizing its 2022 175 GW renewable energy development target, namely to tender 60 GW of solar in the next FY2018-19 and FY2019-20 to drive the above
targets.
MNRE made it clear that it wants to assure the renewable energy developer and investor community of its long-term commitment to the clean energy sector and encourage them to "make risk-free investments in the country.

As of October 31 this year, it released its own data on India's electricity capacity:
The country currently has the fifth-largest installed solar capacity in the world, with a total installed capacity of 24.
