Recently, India's Minister of Power and New and Renewable Energy said that India may invest 385,000 rupees to build 77,000 MW of solar power capacity
by 2022.
The government has set a target of
installing 100,000 megawatts of solar power capacity by 2022.
As of July 2018, solar projects
with a total capacity of 23,120 MW have been installed.
In a statement from Parliament, the minister said that most of the investment in the sector comes from the private sector, with the installation covering an area of about 77,000 cubic meters and an estimated investment of INR 3,85,000
.
So far, the private sector has invested about Rs 115,600 crore to build 23,000 MW of solar operating capacity
.
The total installed capacity of solar projects created in the country in the last three years is 22,389 MW
.
Among Indian states, Andhra Pradesh established the largest solar power base in the current financial year (2018-19) at 369.
9 MW, followed by Tamil Nadu with 312.

According to statistics, 13 states in India have not built any solar power generation
in this fiscal year.
