According to researcher Ren Maozhi, in response to the special needs of space agriculture, the team developed the first "Lunar Micro Farm" that was sent to the back of the moon via Chang'e 4 in January 2019, carrying cotton, rapeseed and potato seeds cultivated by the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences.
The research was funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Science and Technology Innovation Project of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences
