Germany is expected to import 45 million tonnes of hard coal
this year after the closure of domestic mines.
According to the German coal importers' association VDKI, the data shows that this will be 1.
4% higher than the 2018 figure, because additional coal
is purchased to ensure a stable supply, despite increasing the amount of renewable energy.
