The pharmaceutical industry is an important part of China's economy.
In recent years, with the support of favorable policies, the scale of the pharmaceutical industry has continued to grow and develop
    .
However, the pollutants generated by this are still a big problem.
Because a large amount of waste gas pollution will be generated in the pharmaceutical production, if it is directly discharged without treatment, it will seriously affect the ecological environment, which is not in line with the strategic direction of China's sustainable development
    .
Therefore, the pharmaceutical industry needs to solve the problem of industrial waste gas pollution while meeting industrial production
    .

It is understood that VOCs (volatile organic compounds) are common air pollutants in the pharmaceutical industry, including fermentation pharmaceutical industry, chemical synthesis pharmaceutical industry, extraction pharmaceutical industry, bioengineering pharmaceutical industry, and traditional Chinese medicine pharmaceutical industry.
    Figure
    .
VOCs are often produced during biological fermentation, chemical synthesis, transportation, storage, use and recovery of organic solvents, product purification and drying, and wastewater treatment
    .
Research and testing have shown that VOCs and malodorous gas substances not only stimulate human sensory organs, but most of them are toxic.
Among them, mercaptans and phenols can directly harm human health.
Vinyl chloride, benzene, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, and formaldehyde are even carcinogenic.
    Things
    .
Therefore, strengthening the treatment of VOCs exhaust gas is a very important task
    .

As early as July 1, 2019, China implemented the "Pharmaceutical Industry Air Pollutant Emission Standard" issued by the Ministry of Ecology.
The standard requires new enterprises to start from July 1, 2019, and existing companies from July 1, 2020.
From date, its air pollutant emission control shall be implemented in accordance with the provisions of this standard
    .
The standard stipulates the requirements for the control, monitoring and supervision of the emission of air pollutants in the pharmaceutical industry
    .
Its promulgation embodies the concept of full-process control, clarifies the definition and characterization of VOCs, and strengthens the requirements for unorganized emission control.
It is of great significance for the continuous promotion of VOCs emission reduction in the pharmaceutical industry, and it also proposes the development of environmental monitoring and detection technology.
The challenge is to research and formulate the analysis method standards of TVOC, benzene series and other control indicators as soon as possible, and to study and promulgate related detection technical specifications in process control, such as the location and method of wind speed detection in the determination of fugitive emissions
    .

From a local perspective, Jiangsu, Shanghai and other places are also strengthening the prevention and control of air pollution in the pharmaceutical industry
    .
The documents issued by Anhui Province this time also stipulate the requirements for air pollutant emission control, monitoring and supervision and management of the pharmaceutical industry
    .
Applicable to the management of air pollutant emission of existing pharmaceutical industrial enterprises or production facilities, as well as the environmental impact assessment of construction projects of the pharmaceutical industry, environmental protection facility design, environmental protection acceptance after completion, the issuance of pollutant discharge permits and the emission of air pollutants after commissioning Management
    .
It is also applicable to the management of air pollutant emissions from pharmaceutical intermediate companies and their production facilities, drug research and development institutions and their experimental facilities for drug production
    .

However, the manufacturing of sanitary materials and medical supplies (C277) and pharmaceutical excipients and packaging materials (C278) in the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry (C27) specified in GB/T 4754-2017 still comply with the requirements of GB37823 and do not apply to this document
    .

According to the time plan, newly-built enterprises in Anhui Province will be implemented from August 9, 2021, and the transition period will be from the date of implementation of the standard to December 31, 2022
    .
