Recently, a research article was published in Hypertension, a leading cardiovascular journal, which included 3972 patients with acute ischemic stroke in 26 participating hospitals

Compared with the lowest quartile of systolic blood pressure fluctuations, the adjusted odds ratio for the primary outcome associated with the highest quartile was 1.

Diastolic blood pressure had similar results

CONCLUSIONS: Larger blood pressure fluctuations during hospitalization were associated with an increased risk of adverse outcomes 3 months after the onset of ischemic stroke, independent of mean blood pressure
