Original question: Put "solar energy" in a bottle? "Liquid Sunlight" can also replace fossil energy in the future
Chinanews.
"Liquid sunlight" is the use of electricity generated by solar energy and other renewable energy to electrolyze water to produce "green" hydrogen energy, and hydrogenate carbon dioxide into "green" methanol and other liquid fuels.
The picture shows the 10MW photovoltaic power plant supporting the project.
"Liquid sunlight" can be "clean coal, cheap oil, mobile electricity, simple gas".
Why develop "liquid sunlight"? In 2018, China's crude oil processing volume and apparent oil consumption both exceeded 600 million tons to a record high, and the net import volume of crude oil reached 460 million tons, and its dependence on foreign sources was approaching 70%.
How to use renewable energy to replace fossil fuels, ensure the supply of liquid fuels, and realize a low-carbon economy has a bearing on China's energy security and sustainable economic development.
The "Liquid Solar Fuel Synthesis Demonstration Project" is a pilot project conducted by Academician Li Can of the Dalian Institute of Chemical Technology in the western region based on the current state of China's energy and ecological environment.
The picture shows Li Chunxin showing "Liquid Sunshine" green methanol.
The project consists of three units of 10MW photovoltaic power generation, 1000Nm3/h (the world's largest scale) electrolysis of water to produce hydrogen, and 1,000 tons/year of carbon dioxide hydrogenation to synthesize methanol.
"This is a process of natural photosynthesis and artificial photosynthesis of green energy.
What means are used to achieve "carbon neutrality"? Li Fangfang said that the current domestic dependence on fossil resources is relatively high.
"The process has zero pollution and zero emissions, and can form a cycle.
Li Chunxin said that this is conducive to achieving "carbon neutrality" and can alleviate current global warming to a certain extent.
Recently, the world's first large-scale (thousand-ton level) synthetic green methanol demonstration plant located in Lanzhou New District.
He suggested that a hydrogen energy industry demonstration zone can be deployed in the renewable energy clusters of Gansu Province, in the form of liquid hydrogen and highly compressed hydrogen, for satellite launches and rocket tests, hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, precision electronics industry, and chemical manufacturing.
According to reports, relying on China's carbon dioxide emission reduction taxation and carbon neutral policies in the future, a carbon dioxide synthesis methanol industrial demonstration zone will be deployed in the coal-to-methanol and coke production clusters in Gansu Province to develop and produce methanol fuel.
