The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) research team has launched a new generation of multi-layer antibacterial coating technology, which can effectively kill a variety of bacteria, tenacious spores, and eliminate 99.
Tests conducted by independent laboratories in HKUST, France and the UK on the effectiveness and durability of the new coating have shown that this upgraded coating, MAP-∞, can not only maintain a shelf life of up to 5 years on a variety of materials and surfaces, but also coated with MAP.
Developed by a team led by Prof.
Dr.
Professor Yang said: "We realised that the world had to find a sustainable way to deal with Covid-19 no matter what, so we developed this formula to extend the lifespan of the coating
The coating prevents harmful substances such as bacteria and viruses from contaminating the surface through functions such as contact killing, anti-microbial adhesion and self-cleaning
Jiehe Industrial, which established a joint laboratory for environmental health technology with HKUST in 2018, is now discussing with different industry partners to apply MAP-∞ to public buses, residential care homes for the elderly, lifts, eyeglass lenses, credit cards and civil aviation aircraft
