It is reported that a new combined cycle thermal thermal power plant will be built in Georgia to increase the country's power generation and take Georgia one step
closer to energy independence.
Georgian government officials laid the groundwork
for the 230 MW Gardabani 2 thermal power plant in the Kvemo Kartli region of Georgia.
He noted that the foundation is ready and the turbines have arrived
.
As a result, the plant is expected to be completed
as planned by winter 2020.
The construction project is implemented
by Gardabani TPP 2, a subsidiary of Georgian Oil and Gas Company.
The plant will have a "start from zero" function provided through autonomous/independent diesel generator sets, which allows TPP to start
even in the event of a so-called system power outage.
It was revealed that the new energy efficiency of the combined cycle (productivity of more than 50%) is planned to be developed
in the winter of 2019-2020.
Notably, a similar TPP Gardabani 1 project with an installed capacity of 230 MW has been in operation
since 2015.
