Recently, GE Renewable Energy announced that it will supply its latest generation 3.
6-137 wind turbines to Mass Energy Group Holding, a subsidiary of Mass Global, to develop the country's 100 MW Mass wind farm project
.
It is understood that this clean energy project will meet the electricity needs of more than 150,000 households and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 233,800 tons
per year.
This will be the first wind farm for GE and Mass Global to collaborate in Jordan and builds on
their long-standing business relationship.
GE Renewable Energy and its alliance partner Elecnor signed the engineering, procurement and construction contracts
for the project.
The Mass Wind project, which is expected to be operational by the end of 2019, supports the Kingdom's commitment to meet the renewable energy targets outlined in Vision 2025, increasing the share of renewable energy in the total energy mix to 11% and driving domestic energy production to 39%.
General Manager, Onshore Wind Business, responsible for the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey region, said, "Rashadeh's greenfield wind project aligns with Jordan's Vision 2025 to strengthen the renewable energy sector and boost domestic energy production, adding significant value
to the economy and local communities.
Through our partnership with Mass Global's first project in Jordan, we are proud to offer our advanced wind energy technology, which is ideally suited to the needs of
Jordan and the region.
" ”
"Developing this project is a milestone in our international expansion and we are committed to demonstrating our capabilities
in the energy and renewable energy sector," said Director of Renewable Energy, Massachusetts Department of Commerce in Jordan.
GE's wind energy technology is being rolled out around the world, and by working with GE, we will bring highly flexible and efficient operations
to new wind farms that serve the people of Jordan.
" ”
By supplying two turbines to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Dhofar wind farm in Oman, GE Renewable Energy is strengthening its presence
in the wind energy sector in the Middle East.
GE's global wind footprint extends to more than 35 countries, with more than 60 gigawatts of onshore wind turbines
installed worldwide.
