    Background: Lupus nephritis (LN) is an inflammation of the kidneys caused by the autoimmune disease systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)

    Objective: The combined treatment of mycophenolate mofetil, tacrolimus and steroid in lupus nephritis (LN) is effective


    Methods: The expression and activation of GSDMD in human and mouse LN kidney tissues were detected by immunohistochemical staining and immunoblotting


    RESULTS: The expression level and degree of lysis of GSDMD were significantly increased in renal tissue specimens from LN patients and mice


    Conclusions: Combination therapy inhibits caspase-1/GSDMD-mediated pyroptosis and delays disease progression in vitro and in vivo
