From SeafoodMedia on July 19, the Faroese Queen Scallop (Chlamys opercularis) fishery has been awarded MSC certification by the Marine Stewardship Counci.

The fishing industry is run entirely by a company called OC Joensen, which has been fishing for scallops from the same boat for decad.
The assessment was carried out by the newly established Faroe Islands Sustainable Fisheries (FISF) group, which worked with the local government, the Faroe Islands Institute and its consultan.
