    Exports of Norwegian seafood to Europe may be suspended

    From SeafoodMedia's March 8 news, the Norwegian Seafood Council (NSC) responded to the situation of Norwegian seafood exports to these two countries and other regions after the Russian-Ukrainian conflict .
     
    - 1.
    8% of the revenue from exports of seafood to Ukraine, worth NOK 2.
    2 billion in 2021, including salmon, trout, herring and mackerel;
     
    - Export revenue to Russia accounted for 0.
    2%, and exports to Russia in 2021 amounted to NOK 248 million.
    The main products are live salmon, farmed salmon juveniles, feed and feed ingredients;
     
    - Export revenue to the Eurasian Economic Union accounted for 1.
    7%, and the export revenue to the Eurasian Economic Union in 2021 was NOK 2 billion.
    Exports include salmon, trout, herring and mackerel.
    The Eurasian Economic Union consists of Russia, Belarus , Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia;
     
    - 0.
    9% of export earnings to Belarus, NOK 1.
    14 billion in 2021 export earnings to the region, including trout, herring and salmon

      Norwegian seafood by air to Asia accounted for 12% of the total exports, and the export value to Asia was approximately NOK 14.
    5 billion, mainly fresh salmon, fresh trout and live king crab
    .
     
      The situation in Russia and Ukraine continues to escalate, but food products, especially fish and other seafood products, have not been directly affected by EU sanctions
    .
     
      Most of the Norwegian seafood exported to Ukraine and Belarus passes through the Baltic countries and parts of Poland, from where it is transported by car, and some by rail to the other side's market
    .
    Now that shipments to Ukraine have come to a complete halt, shipments from the Baltic states and Poland to Belarus and other EU countries appear to be halted under the current circumstances as well
