Evonik today announced that its Global Lithium-ion Battery Center at the Innovation Campus in Shanghai has officially opened its doors

As the first global technical center for the lithium-ion battery industry, innovative materials will be developed to create batteries
with higher energy density, better safety and longer service life.

The new Shanghai Lithium-ion Battery Center, part of Evonik's global R&D network, will concentrate expertise in various business areas to innovate
battery cathode and anode materials and separator materials, as well as electrode preparation technologies.
The center's state-of-the-art facilities, including material preparation and characterization, coin cell and pouch cell pilot lines, and battery testing equipment, ensure that Evonik experts develop next-generation battery materials, batteries and technologies

In addition, the center plans to carry out joint development projects with local customers and explore market potential
through venture capital activities.
