An assessment of ECOHZ's preliminary statistics shows that European demand for renewable energy with a guarantee of origin (GO) increased by 11.
7% in 2019, 61 TWh more than in 2018, while the supply of GO increased by 3.
5%.
The rapid growth in demand has led to a reduced
oversupply of GO in 2019 than in previous years.
"If the current development continues into 2020, the market will experience a rebalancing

Last year, GO's top three markets were Sweden, where demand grew 38% to 65 TWh; Demand grew by 26% in France and 10% in Germany, exceeding 100 TWh
for the first time.
The statistics come from the Association of Issuers (AIB), with new additions in 2019 including Serbia, Slovakia and Greece
.
This year, Portugal and Montenegro are expected to join the association
