It is a Romanian state-owned electricity and heat producer that also operates hard coal mines to fuel its power plants
.
The company has been facing financial difficulties
since 2013.
If Romania is unable to repay its financial support within six months, Romania undertakes to submit a restructuring plan to ensure the company's future viability
.
In addition, the European Commission said in a separate decision that CE Hunedorara must reimburse about 6 million euros in incompatible state aid
