The opinion proposes that in 5-10 years, a new pattern of high-quality development of the pig industry with high output, product safety, resource conservation, environmental friendliness, and effective regulation will be basically formed, the industrial competitiveness will be greatly improved, the ability to prevent and control diseases will be significantly enhanced, and policies The guarantee system has been basically perfected, the cyclical fluctuations of the market have been effectively alleviated, the safety guarantee capability of pork supply has been continuously enhanced, and the self-sufficiency rate has been maintained at around 95%
The opinions require the implementation of long-term support policies for stable pig production, the establishment of a counter-cyclical control mechanism for pig production, the improvement of a comprehensive emergency system for stable production and supply of pigs, and continuous promotion of the modernization of the pig industry
The opinion also proposes to build a modern pig breeding industry, carry out a comprehensive census of pig genetic resources, strengthen the construction of national-level conservation farms, protected areas and gene banks, and improve the protection level of excellent breed resources
Regarding the new measure of establishing a counter-cyclical control mechanism for live pig production, the relevant person in charge of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs stated that the ability to reproduce sows is the "master switch" for pig production and market supply.
In the next step, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs will formulate an implementation plan for the regulation of production capacity of live pigs, and assign indicators such as the number of reproductive sows and the number of large-scale farms (households) to the provinces, and guide the provinces to formulate detailed implementation plans, and provide opinions as soon as possible.
