German energy company E.
ON announced last week that it would invest in an onshore wind farm in Sweden, Nysäter, with an installed capacity of 475 megawatts, which will be one of
the largest onshore wind farms in Europe.
Eon announced late last week that it would work with Credit Suisse Energy Infrastructure Partners (CSEIP), a division of Swiss investment bank Credit Suisse that focuses on investing in the global energy sector
.
Once completed, CSEIP will hold 80% ownership of the Nysäter project, while E.
ON will build and operate the wind farm under a long-term operation and maintenance (O&M) agreement, while retaining 20% ownership
of the project.
Located in the wooded Västernorrland district of central Sweden, close to Sundsvall, this area has excellent wind conditions, but still requires wind turbines
of different capacities.
German wind turbine manufacturer Nordex will supply 114 wind turbines depending on the location, with a single capacity between
3.
9 MW and 4.
4 MW.
According to the plan, the project will start at the end of the year and be completed
by the end of 2021.
"This is part of our strategy to expand our position in onshore wind in Europe," said Anja-Isabel Dotzenrath, CEO of E.
ON's Climate and Renewable Energy division, "Nysäter represents a significant expansion
of our portfolio in Scandinavia.
The project also demonstrates our ability to
successfully develop and commercialize large-scale projects worldwide.
”
The total investment in the project is approximately EUR 500 million and a PPA agreement has been signed, which aims to provide comprehensive risk management and other services
for the project.
E.
