Food export fava bean flour wheat pasta
In March this year, Egypt decided to ban the export of wheat and other food products due to factors such as the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, which was extended for another three months in
June.
With 80 percent of its wheat imports dependent on Russia and Ukraine, Egypt has been working to diversify its wheat import sources and encourage farmers to sell wheat
to the state.
Egypt has increased its local supply with an average purchase price of 880 EGP/Adab (150 kg) from local farmers and will increase to 1,000 EGP
in the new season.
Egypt consumes about 18 million tons of wheat a year, and the government plans to buy 6 million tons
from the country this year.
