    Eastern Morocco's pomegranate production exceeds 20,000 tons in 2021

    In 2021, pomegranate production will reach 22,750 tons, an increase of 45% compared to 2017; the planted area will reach 2,370 hectares, double the 1,200 hectares in 2017, of which 61% are concentrated in Berkane province

    Pomegranate exports to the EU also increased from 362 tons in 2017 to the current 910 tons

    In order to encourage pomegranate cultivation, the Moroccan Ministry of Agriculture has provided local farmers with a subsidy of 3 million dirhams to help improve planting and irrigation techniques.
    At present, 40% of the planting land has achieved drip irrigation
