Tanzania’s mainstream media "Guardian" reported on October 30 that the 13th meeting of the East African Eco- Organic Agriculture Steering Committee was recently held in Dar es Salaam.
The progress made, the existing challenges and the next development direction
.
Up to now, Uganda has approved a policy on promoting the development of ecological organic agriculture; Tanzania plans to establish an ecological organic agriculture management department to formulate relevant strategies to promote the development of the industry; Kenya encourages farmers to enter the industry by exporting organic products to the EU, and exports in 2020 3 million euros; Burundi plans to build an organic agriculture knowledge center, increase the supply of supporting products, and actively help farmers match the market
.
The main challenge at present is the lack of special policies, laws and regulations for the regulation of ecological organic agriculture in each member country
.
In the next step, member states should study and introduce professional policies, support measures, and related laws and regulations to promote the development of ecological organic agriculture
