Recently, the Dubai Water and Electricity Authority (DEWA) revealed that there are currently 1,032 residential and commercial building photovoltaic systems under net metering in Dubai, with a total capacity of about 43.

There are clear signs that the number of owners and businesses interested in residential and commercial PV solutions in the country is growing
exponentially.
DEWA has invited Dubai residents to participate in the Shams-Dubai initiative and recently launched the Shams-Dubai Calculator, an online tool
that helps customers who wish to install solar panels assess their roof potential.
Under the Shams-Dubai scenario, owners of residential and commercial PV systems can sell surplus electricity to the grid at the same price, with only the net amount billed to customers
at the end of each month.
As of May this year, DEWA has certified more than 446 solar companies, with 96 companies joining the Shams-Dubai programme: 85 contractors and 11 consulting firms
