Dubai Water and Electricity Authority has completed the first phase of the third phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum solar park project, with an installed capacity of 200 MW, so far, Dubai's clean energy supply ratio has reached 4%.
The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority has revealed that the third phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum solar park has a total installed capacity of 800 MW
.
At present, the first phase of 200 MW has been connected to the grid, and the second and third phases will be connected to the grid in 2019 and 2020 respectively, with an installed capacity of 600 MW
.
HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, General Manager of the Water and Power Authority, pointed out that this is the first solar power plant in the MENA region to use a single-axis solar tracking system, which is 20-30%
more energy efficient.
It uses more than 800,000 self-cleaning solar cells to maintain a high level of
performance.
The project provides clean energy to more than 60,000 homes and reduces carbon emissions by 270,000 tons per year
.
Al Tayer pointed out that the project will increase the proportion of clean energy to 4%
of Dubai's total installed capacity.
The PV and CSP IPP projects currently under construction have a capacity of 1,500MW.
