: Mitsubishi Liyang, the world's largest producer of MMA, reportedly estimates that global demand for methyl acrylates (MMA) will grow at a rate of 2-3% per year by 2020, and that global MMA demand will reach 4.5 million tons per year by 2020, with global demand currently estimated at 3 million tons per year.
the region is expected to grow at a faster rate of 4-5% due to faster economic growth in Asia, with demand reaching more than 2.5 million tonnes/year by 2020. The MRC estimates that demand in Asia was close to 2 million tonnes per year in 2012. Due to increased demand, new capacity will be delivered over the next two years, with two MMA projects in 2012 alone. The new capacity is likely to increase by 608,000 tonnes/year over the next two years.
