According to the "Asian Lubricants Weekly" news on December 31, a government report shows that the demand for finished lubricants in Japan in November 2021 fell by more than 10% from the same period last year, but rose slightly from October
.
Lubricant imports fell during the month, while exports rose
slightly.
Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry reported on December 28 that the country's lubricant consumption fell 11 percent to 110599 kiloliters, or 99,000 tons, in November, down from 124191 kiloliters
in November 2020.
However, it is up 3%
from the 107057 thousand liters in October 2021.
Japan's lubricant production (including exports) in November 2021 fell 3% year-on-year to 145128 kiloliters, although it was
up slightly from 145046 kiloliters in October.
November was the third lowest month in 2021, after October and May (138472 kiloliters).
The highest value for Japanese lubricant production in 2021 was 202,110 kiloliters
, which reached in March.
In November 2021, Japan imported 21,704 kiloliters of lubricating oil, down 21%
from 27,587 kiloliters in the same period last year.
Japan's lubricant imports grew strongly in October and September 2021, with imports exceeding 28,000 kiloliters
in both months.
Japan's lubricant exports in November edged up 3% year-on-year to 53,885 kiloliters, but up 31%
from 41,043 kiloliters in October.
