Chinese scientist Zeng Chunyu won the Outstanding Scientist Award from the American College of Cardiology |
At 8 pm on May 15th, at the annual scientific conference jointly organized by the American Heart Association and the American Heart Association, Zeng Chunyu, director of the Department of Cardiology, Army Medical University, Army Special Medical Center, won the American College of Cardiology (ACC) Outstanding Scientist Award (Basic Research) Field), this is the first Chinese scientist, and even the first Chinese scientist to receive this award in this field.
The ACC Distinguished Scientist Award began in 1994 and is selected once a year to commend global scientists who have made major discoveries and outstanding contributions in the field of cardiovascular disease.
Study Subverts Adult Myocardium Cannot Regenerate Cognition
Study Subverts Adult Myocardium Cannot Regenerate CognitionAs early as 2000, with the support of the National Outstanding Youth Fund, the National Natural Science Foundation of China’s key projects, and the 973 project, Zeng Chunyu’s research team conducted in-depth research on the pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases such as hypertension and adult myocardial regeneration, looking for new prevention and treatment methods, Optimize the diagnosis and treatment process, and has made great achievements.
In terms of cardioprotection and regeneration, the research team found that adult stem cells cannot differentiate into cardiomyocytes, confirming that the protective effect of adult stem cells on myocardium is mainly its paracrine effect; the direct angiogenesis of stem cells can only reveal 9% of new blood vessels, 91 % From the stimulation of paracrine factors that lead to the proliferation of original blood vessels; in the domestic and foreign calls that stem cells can become cardiomyocytes, detailed research results have shown that adult stem cells cannot be transformed into cardiomyocytes; both cardiomyocytes and nerve cells Cells that are considered to have no regenerative capacity or very weak regenerative capacity, once damaged, are permanently lost, and are defined as terminally differentiated cells by medical textbooks.
While establishing a culture system for adult cardiomyocytes, the research team used a live cell workstation to visually record the entire process of adult cardiomyocyte proliferation and division, providing direct visual evidence for the proliferation of adult cardiomyocytes.
They also found that the proliferation ability of terminally differentiated double/multi-core muscle cells is basically similar to that of single-core muscle cells, rewriting the previous view that "only a few naive single-core muscle cells have the possibility of proliferation".
Dedicated to cardiovascular disease research for more than 20 years
Dedicated to cardiovascular disease research for more than 20 yearsIn terms of hypertension, the research team found out the mechanism of salt-induced hypertension, and found the target of intervention; found that the excretion of urinary sodium is not only a kidney problem, but a comprehensive effect of multiple tissues and organs throughout the body, which has an impact on the stomach and intestines.
The research team also has excellent research results in other aspects of cardiovascular disease, and found that “junk RNA” is not junk, and the high expression of LincRNA-P21 can effectively inhibit the occurrence of vascular atherosclerosis in the blood; found that the new protein MG53 is effective in infection , Trauma, ischemia and other acute lung injuries have a protective effect.
It is understood that these research results of Zeng Chunyu’s team have perfected the theory of the onset of hypertension; provided evidence of in vitro and carrier for the theory of myocardial regeneration; and found the key factors for exercise to protect the body.
