China News Service, Shanghai, August 14 (Chen Jingzhongxuan) Colorectal cancer is one of the most common digestive tract malignant tumors

The reporter learned on the 14th that the latest research by Chinese medical experts found that the incidence of young intestinal cancer (early-onset colorectal cancer) and elderly colorectal cancer (late-onset colorectal cancer) with the age of onset older than 50 years old is significantly higher in intestinal bacteria.

It is reported that this latest exploratory study led by Professor Ma Yanlei, Department of Colorectal Surgery, Fudan University Affiliated Cancer Hospital, provides a new perspective and direction for understanding the pathogenesis of intestinal cancer in young people and for exploring early screening and early diagnosis of intestinal cancer suitable for young people

Professor Ma Yanlei told reporters that colorectal cancer has always been a disease of the elderly that is generally considered by the public

According to the expert, in recent years, bowel cancer has shown a trend of rejuvenation

Are there pathogenic bacteria profiles and metabolite profiles with diagnostic value in young patients with bowel cancer? Are these microbiota and metabolites an important pathogenic factor in the development of intestinal cancer in young adults? In response to these unsolved problems and doubts in the academic world, Professor Ma Yanlei led the team for four years to conduct correlation analysis on a large number of Chinese young colon cancer patients, elderly colon cancer patients and age-matched healthy population controls, and build relevant models for identification.

Through a large-sample cohort, the research team mapped the gut microbiota and metabolite profiles of young Chinese colon cancer patients

The study found potential intervention targets for the incidence of colorectal cancer in youth; the research team constructed a random forest classifier model to evaluate the multi-omics label classification ability of colorectal cancer in youth

It is reported that the Second Department of Colorectal Surgery of Fudan University Affiliated Cancer Hospital has been committed to the whole process of colorectal cancer management, focusing on colorectal cancer prevention, screening, diagnosis and treatment
