EnergyTrend said yesterday that China's solar demand is expected to reach only 31.
6GW this year, down 40% from 2017, and the global market will also be affected, falling to 92GW-95GW.
Green energy research from Taiwan's TrendForce also said China's demand would not have fallen to 29 GW to 35 GW
had it not been for the government's decision to drastically limit support for new solar projects this year.
The PV New Deal, announced on May 31, 2018, set a 10 GW cap for distributed generation projects and eliminated utility-scale solar targets
for the year.
The tender is expected to replace the feed-in tariff (FiT) system
.
At the same time, the central government also wants to leave support for solar energy in the hands of the provinces
.
EnergyTrend warns that the oversupply in the photovoltaic (PV) industry will become more severe
due to changes in Chinese policies.
Prices have begun to fall
.
The research firm expects global solar to decline by 5 to 8 percent
.
It is not expected that new markets will emerge until 2019, and market demand will not return above 100GW
