China's "neglected tropical diseases": from raging to disappearing Infectious Diseases of Poverty。

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, Zhou Xiaonon's research team has written a summary of the achievements and experiences of 11 types of prevention and control of 11 types of "neglected tropical diseases" in China, as well as the next prevention and control objectives.

Before 1949, more than half of the population had terophosphoria; in the 1950s, lymphatic silkworm disease was endemic in 16 provinces in the central and south-eastern regions, with 31 million cases; schistosomiasis was endemic in 12 southern provinces, with an estimated 11.6 million people; and black fever was endemic in 16 provinces in northern China, conservatively estimated at 530,000. At the end of the 1980s, there were 650 million people living with earth-native worm disease in China, and 1.3 million people with aphid disease. At the beginning of this century, bagworm disease was endemic in nine provinces in northwest China, with an estimated 380,000 people becoming ill, and liver-sucking disease was endemic in more than 10 provinces in the southeast and northeast, with more than 10 million people becoming ill. In addition, leprosy, rabies and dengue fever have also been highly prevalent in different regions.
