    According to the Islamic Republic of Iran News Agency, Chinese metallurgical and energy group Sinosteel Group has signed an agreement with Italy's Denikon company to jointly build a solar park
    with a capacity of up to 1 GW in Iran.

    The MOU envisages the construction of a 500 MW to 1 GW solar park, 20,000 residential solar power plants and a photovoltaic panel manufacturing plant
    in the central Iranian city of Yazd.

    The project in the sunny city of Yazd, which has been inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List, is expected to help the city reduce its reliance on
    fossil fuel power generation.

    At the same time, the Iranian government aims to install 5 GW of new renewable energy by 2020 and add another 2.
