From SeafoodNews on November 24, Sri Lanka's climate is very suitable for the production of sea cucumbers, facilitating Sri Lanka's exports to China, and China is investing in the construction of sea cucumber farms
in Sri Lanka.

Back in 2016, Chinese joint venture Guilan Ltd set up an artificially bred sea cucumber hatchery in Ariyalai village near the port of Jaffna in Sri Lanka to provide facilities
for further production of sea cucumbers.

In 2021 alone, Sri Lanka exported about 336 tonnes of sea cucumbers, with China being the largest buyer
.

In June 2022, the Sri Lankan Government's Cabinet approved a proposal
to establish a 5,000-acre large-scale commercial sea cucumber farming project in the northern and eastern regions of Jaffna, Manar, Kilinochchi and Batikaroya in the northern and eastern regions of Sri Lanka.
