Polish miner KGHM and the union representing Chile's Sierra Gorda copper miners have reached an agreement
to negotiate the contract.
Maykel Ocayo, president of the Sierra Gorda union, said in his speech that workers voted on Saturday to show a two-thirds majority agreeing to accept the company's new offer
.
But he did not elaborate on the content of
the offer.
The union threatened strike action
in mid-March after rejecting previous offers from mining companies.
The two sides agreed to extend contract negotiations
last week.
Sierra Gorda produced 101,900 tonnes of copper last year, while Chile produced 5.
8 million tonnes
of copper for the year.
