September 4, 2021, Science sub-Journal Science Advances issued Innovation Center for Molecular Plant Sciences, Chinese Academy of Excellence Chao-generation Indian research group entitled "NPF transporters in synaptic-like vesicles control delivery of iron and copper to seeds" of research papers

Iron deficiency is currently one of the most serious nutritional problems in the world.

This study cleverly used the yeast heterologous expression system that cannot synthesize and transport NA, and screened the Arabidopsis nitrate/oligopeptide transporter protein family (NPF) members NPF5.

These results indicate that NA synthesized in the cytoplasm is stored in this special vesicle through the transport of NAET protein, and is further released to the outside of the cell in the form of exocytosis through vesicle transport, while metal ions enter the cell after binding to NA outside the cell.

Researcher Chao Daiyin from the Center for Excellence in Molecular Plant Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences is the corresponding author of the paper.
